that improve circulation, enhance muscular relaxation, relieve pain, reduce stress, enhance immune function, or promote health and well being.
Outcome-based massage is specific to a diagnosis provided by a referring physician. Medical Massage Therapists require a physician's prescription, specific diagnosis and treatment code when treating patients. (Of course no prescription is necessary when you come to us as a massage client.)
Massage therapists practicing medical massage have advanced training in evaluation and treatment of movement and structure of the musculoskeletal system, training in medical documentation and terminology, advanced communication skills, and advanced training in pathologies and protocols for medical based treatment.
When a patient comes into the clinic the diagnostic code the doctor presented with the prescription does not specify the degree and phase of injury, nor does it specify the degree and location of the hypermobility or hypomobility so a comprehensive evaluation with our therapist will be necessary.
Evaluation ensures the patient receive treatment techniques that are correct and appropriate for the phase and stage of healing that the patient is in.
Note: Some persons presenting with a prescription may be asked by the therapist to be treated as a client rather than as a patient if the therapist feels that their needs would be better met by so doing. In such a case the prescription will be filed and care will be based on conversation between the client and the therapist. You would be asked to sign a Release of Responsibility form and we would communicate only with you and we would not communicate to your doctor, insurance company, or lawyer about you, your treatment, billing, etc.
